Handcrafted Perfection, From the Berry to the Bottle
Discover Poverty HillExplore Our Wines
Poverty Hills Wines is a small boutique winery in the township of Springton, located in the Eden Valley sub-region of the South Australian Barossa wine growing region. We began with our first vintage in 2002, when we made just 3 hogsheads of wine. Within a short time we received excellent results in Australian wine ratings.
The success of our wine then and today is largely due to these factors. Our vineyards are located in the Eden Valley area, known for its outstanding grape growing climate and soils. Our wines are hand crafted, made from the grapes produced in individual vineyards in the region, which have been proven to produce a high quality product. Finally the team here combine their individual skills in all aspects of our wine production from “the berry to the bottle” to produce our high quality wine.
Today, the winery continues to handcraft its white and red wine selection to a high standard. We hope you enjoy the results. Our products are displayed on this website.Explore Our Wines
Poverty Hill Wines brings together a group of men who have had a long connection with the Eden Valley.
They include Rob Buck, who owns vineyards on the ancient volcanic soils east of Springton, producing our shiraz and cabernet sauvignon.
John Eckert is the winemaker at Poverty Hill. He started his career working with Len Evans. Today he makes the wines at Poverty Hill as well as managing their vineyards – those of Rob Buck as well as his own block of Riesling in the heart of the Eden Valley.
Bucks Bistro is situated in the original blacksmith’s shop in the village of Springton in the picturesque Eden Valley.
The rustic brick building creates a country atmosphere with dishes including the likes of goat cheese and fetta lasagne and salt and pepper squid.
